When a call comes in from our corner of the county, it is neighbors who answer. Callands Fire & Rescue runs out of Station ST/SQ 35 on Callands Road, staffed entirely by trained volunteers who live, work, and raise their families right here.
We are one department in Pittsylvania County's volunteer network of 21 fire departments and 12 EMS stations, more than a thousand people across the county who show up for each other when it matters most. Our trucks, our gear, and our training are funded by the community we protect.
Callands Fire & Rescue is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit and has served this community since 1979.
When the pager goes off, our volunteers respond to whatever the call brings, day or night, and back up neighboring departments across the county.
Structure, brush, and vehicle fire response for the homes, farms, and roads across our service area.
Trained response when people are trapped, stranded, or hurt and need help getting to safety.
Medical response with our two rescue units, backing the county's emergency medical network.
We answer alongside neighboring volunteer departments so no community faces a big call alone.
Powered by our Auxiliary. Behind every response is the Auxiliary, the volunteers who organize fundraisers, feed the crews, and keep the department running long after the trucks are back in the bay.
The department you see at the festival is the same one that shows up at two in the morning. Here is where to find us next, and how the community keeps our trucks rolling.
